New Dress Code for Baristas Coming Soon

April 25, 20251 min read

Starbucks is updating its dress code to create a more consistent coffeehouse experience across North America. Starting May 12, partners will be required to wear solid black shirts—either short or long-sleeved crewneck, collared, or button-up—and bottoms in any shade of khaki, black, or blue denim. The goal is to simplify the color palette, allowing the iconic green apron to stand out and provide a familiar look for customers, regardless of the store they visit.

In addition to the new dress code, Starbucks will provide partners with two company-branded t-shirts at no cost, including options from partner networks. This change aims to offer clearer guidance to partners, enabling them to focus more on crafting beverages and connecting with customers.

The updated dress code is part of Starbucks’ broader effort to enhance the customer experience by fostering a warm and welcoming environment. By standardizing partner attire, the company hopes to reinforce its brand identity and ensure that customers feel a sense of familiarity and comfort in every store.
